Labyrinth invites you for the first Jazz & Poetry edition of this year; on Sunday 15 May. A crossing border session with Otis Menzah and Imogen Stirling both based in the United Kingdom who are having their solo tours through Europe starting with Amsterdam.

Otis Menzah UK’s very own Rap-Poet takes to the stage for an exclusive headline performance at Labyrinth Amsterdam his debut to celebrate the release of his new EP: ‘Things I should have said a year ago.” Together with artist/saxophonist Seigfried Komidashi, they bring a blend of jazz, art-rap and poetry for a night of sonic experiments.

Imogen Stirling is a Glasgow-based artist. She is a performance poet, theater maker, musician, and writer.Her second poetry collection Love the Sinner has just been published, and is also a live theater show in progress. She will let you hear snippets from her new poetry collection, during this jazz & poetry Sunday.

Your host Alexander Cromer will get you in participating always with a humoristic twist to let you feel what jazz & poetry is all about. Alexander Cromer uses a combination of text, sonic acts, and performance to explore new forms of storytelling.

Join us and experience Jazz & Poetry while tasting exquisite cocktails made by mixologist Sam Kingue Ebelle and Afro/Caribbean soul food.

Practicalities:

Doors are open from 17:00 hours, but make sure you are in by 19:00 hours, so the team is able to serve everybody before the performance starts. Entrance fee is 7,50 euro’s. Tickets are available via Labyrinth’s online reservation system. To be sure of a ticket make a reservation, as we have limited seats available, and full = full. Revenue of the tickets goes to the artists.
